HOLIDAY TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS

« In to-day’s issue will be found the Railway Department’s advertisement setting out the train arrangements tor the Christmas holidays. Suburban residents will notice that the morning trains from Johnsonville and Paekakariki on the morning of December 24 arrive in Wellington a little later than usual. It was found that on last Christmas Eve the 5.40 p.m. "Welling-ton-Palmerston, North train was somewhat overcrowded, and in order to. relieve the congestion this year passengers are requested to make as much use as possible of the special train provided at 4.45 p.m. Particulars of the restricted use of these trains appear in the advertisement. A relief train also runs to Masterton in the evening on December 24. Night trains are scheduled on Christmas Eve between Wellington, Napier anti Wanganui. A skeleton service is provided on Christinas Day. The principal through trains will run. Adequate arrangements are to cater for passengers to the seaside and picnic grounds on Boxing Day, while the motor sports at Otaki and race meetings at Palmerston North and Clareville on December 27 end subsequent dates are featured. The New Year holiday train arrangements will be advertised next week’.
