THE CITY’S FINANCES
A CREDIT ON CURRENT YEAR. The Mavor announced at last evening’s meeting of the City Council that the finances of the council were panning out very well. After making allowances for all possible charges, there would be a credit balance for the year amounting to ,£2551. Bo had spoken at the last meeting of the manner in which the credit of the city was regarded by the public. A report furniched bv the city treasurer showed that the ‘public was continuing to buy the corporation debentures over the table without any advertisement or any special effort. The amount sold up to date was <£44,000.
