TRADE RELATIONS

BETWEEN AUSTRALIA AND UNITED STATES BIG BALANCE AGAINST COMMONWEALTH New York, December 15. Sir Hugh Denison, Australian Trade Commissioner to the United States, was the guest of the British Empire Chamber of Commerce dinner, and made his second speech on trade relations between Australia and the United States. Sir Hugh Denison declared that the United States could not expect to hold her huge export trade unless she was prepared to meet other nations and take a greater proportion of their goods. Australia’s 1.80,000,000 dollars’ worth of imports from the United States compared with her 45,000,000 dollars’ worth of exports thereto could not last much longer. As between Australia and Britain, the trade balance was nearly equal.
