PUBLISHING PRISON SECRETS

EX-GOVERNOR OF PENTONVILLE FINED. London, December 15, In the case in which Major Blake’s ex-governor of Pentonville Prison, was charged with contravening the Official Secrets Act by publishing conversations of condemned criminals, counsel submitted that Major Blake was no longer liound by prison secrets because lie was no longer governor. The Judge, in fining him £250 and costs, said that he was resolved not to inflict imprisonment, because of Major Blake’s past career in the Public Service. He had received £3OO for a scries of articles, therefore a fine and costs would make him pecuniarily worse off, which he should be.
