CONSPIRACY CHARGES
MISSING DETECTIVE SURRENDERS. (Rec. December 5, 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, December 5. Ex-Detective Fowler has surrendered to the police, by whom he is charged with conspiracy and theft, and remanded on bail till December 9. [With three other members of the Victorian detective force, Fowler was charged with conspiracy and theft of £lOOO, and demanding, with menaces, £6500 from Terence Callaghan, licensee of the Londonderry Hotel, Collingwood. Before the prisoners came to trial Fowler disappeared.]
