INQUIRY BY LEAGUE’S LABOUR OFFICE. Geneva, December 3. The average family’s daily basket of provisions, including meat, vegetables, bread, coffee, milk, and butter, was the basis of the League of Nation’s Labour Office’s inquiry into the cost of living in the chief cities. Lodz was the cheapest, with 25., and Philadelphia the dearest, with 9s. Id. Sydney was the next dearest, with Bs. Id., and London, with 7s. Id., is eighth on the list.
