AUSTRALIAN MINISTER

PROBABLE APPOINTMENT IN UNITED STATES (Rec. December 3, 9.25 p.m.) New York, December 3. In a speech made to-day by Sir Hugh Denison, Australian Trade RepresentsLive, before the New York State Clia.niber of Commerce, he said: “The same diplomatic relations that rule between America and other countries will probably in the not distant future exist between my country and yours.” This is interpreted as meaning that Australia will. shortly appoint a Minister plenipotentiary in the United States, and has aroused much interest. The feeling is that while such an envoy would be enthusiastically received, there is httle likelihood that the United States will reciprocate by sending a Minister to Australia. Official circles believe the present consular representatives are sufficient to handle American interests m Australia.
