Carterton, December 3. Tbe ball held at Clareville by the hall committee was a very successful gatherin''. The music was provided by an orchestra, extras being played by Misses S. Peters (Waihakeke), Dawson (Masterton), and Messrs. A. Rayne and O’Connor (2). The duties of M.C.’s were efficiently undertaken by Messrs. A. Hawke, S. Smith. K. Heid, and It. Wadham. Tbe committee dainty supper. The nominations for the South Wairarapa Trotting Club’s meeting, to be held on tbe Clareville racecourse towards the end of the month, are coming in very satisfactorily, and at least two large North Island stables will be represented. Mr. R. A- Armstrong, president of the Wellington Trotting Club, and a North Island member of tbe New Zealand Trotting Association, has offered to present a gold mounted whip to tbe driver of the" winner of the Wairarapa Trotting Cup. At the annual meeting of the Grey, town branch of the W.C.T.U., Miss Oates presiding, the following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Hugh Morrison; vice-presidents, Mcsdames Taylor, and Kearney, and Miss Oates, secretary, Mrs. W. M. Allen; treasurer. Mrs. A. Haigb; evangelistic superintendent, Mrs. J. Allen; L.T.L. superintendent. Mrs. R. H. Anker; cradle roll. Mrs. J. Roche; tea convener, Mrs. Kearney. Fx-ellent work has been done by the branch during the year. A movement is on foot to provide suitable motor camping grounds close to Greytown. The Memorial Park has been suggested as an ideal locality. In the weekly match for the brooches in the Featherston Croquet Club, Mesdames Combs and Warren Jost to Mesdanies Fairbrother and O’Brien.

The Featherston Sports Club programme committee have arranged a full programme of athletic events, and ten horse events for their sports meeting in February. There will also be two events for ladies, 100 yards and 75 yards.
