“THE MESSIAH’’
Fiftv members of the Royal Wellington Choral Union will leave for Levin to-day in order to take. part in the local performance of “The Messiah there on Monday evening. The soloists will be Miss Winnie Fraser, Miss Mina Caldow, Mr. Leu Barnes and Mr. E. Dennias.
At the following week-end 150 members of the “Royal Choral” will journev to Palmerston North to assist the local society with their “Messiah” on Saturday evening next. The soloists on that occasion will be Miss Whalley (soprano), Miss Nina Caldow (contralto), Mr. Prescott (tenor), and Mr. W. Watters (baritone).
The Wellington performance of “The Messiah” will take place on Saturday, December 11, when Air. Hilbert Carter, the New Zealand tenor, who lias been conspicuously successful in England during the past three years, will make his first appearance after his return from the Old Country. Mr. Carter is due to arrive at Auckland on December 6.
