HEENEY BEATS STANLEY ON POINTS ' IN HARD-FOUGHT CONTEST London. October 25. At the National Sporting Club, in fifteen rounds, the New Zealand heavyweight, Tom Heeney, outpointed Jack Stanley. (Rec. October 26, 9.45 p.m.) Loudon, Otcober 25. Mr Coates' was present at the Hee-nev-Stanlev fight, and congratulated the. New 'Zealander int the dressingroom on his win. 'Both • men were in good form- -and fought bard, throughout. . There was a curious -similarity in all the rounds, Heeney invariably rushing in and hitting out. i lien the fighters closed and infighting followed, with uppercuts, until a momentary-breakaway came but soon thev,. were head to bead again’, despite the' referee’s intervention' Stanley made some use of his superiority in inches, but Heeney staggered Stanley with left and right to the jaw in the second round, andmaintained his superiority in the third, though his face blows had little sting in them. Stanley made a better show in the fourth, but Heeney broke awav and scored with hits to the face and. bodv at the end of the round. Both fought hard in the fifth, Stanley ? endeavouring to avoid punches. Whe« Hecnev lauded'a blow it was relative* lv ineffective. There were few good, straight rights by either tnau, and no spectacular bouts, but the last four rounds were lively, Heeney trying hard for a knock-out. Stanley, however, covered well. There was no doubt that if Heeney’s blows had carried any real power the contest would have ended long .before, as the New Zealander was on top practically in every round. ’
