EX-KAISER’S RETURN
FORBIDDEN, BY LAW OF GERMAN REPUBLIC Berlin, October 21. It is stated on trustworthy authority that the ex-Kaiser lias not applied to the Government for perraissionu to return to Germany. If be did so the Government would not consent. It is pointed out that the law for the protection of the Republic provides that ex-rulers residing abroad shall only return by permission, which the Government is absolutely resolved not to grant, because the ex-Kaiser’s presence would only cause anxiety to a great section of the community, and have a fateful influence on public opinion abroad. The law referred to expires in July, but before its expiration the Government will take further steps to define finally the position of the ex-monarch.
