UNUSUAL CHARGE
TRESPASSING ON HUS. BAND S PREMISES YOUNG WOMAN ARRESTED Dominion Special. Christchurch, October 14. Because she refused to obey a summons to appear at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon, it was necessary to arrest Phyllis Pratt, a young married woman, and take her to the Court to answer the unusual charge of wilfully trespassing on premises occupied by her husband, Charles Pratt, after she had been warned to leave. Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., was on the bench, and Mrs.’ Pratt, who pleaded not guilty, was represented by Mr. Sira. Mr. Inder appeared for Charles Pratt. . Mr. Sim, after entering his plea, asked that the case be stood down for a fortnight. Mr. Inder said the defendant had been at her husband’s office all day, and refused to go away. A deed of separation had been prepared, and the parties had signed it. “Perhaps Your Worship could hear something and give a direction that would prevent a repetition of this sort of thing,” he added. Mr. Sim: I don’t wish to open this thing,, because there’s no knowing where it will stop. The Magistrate: She. won’t go near her husband during the two weeks. If she does, tell her she will be brought back here again. Mr. Sim (to Mrs. Pratt) : Will you guarantee not to molest your husband? —“Yes, but he broke the deed.” Mr Sim: It doesn’t matter about that. Do von promise not to go near your husband?—“Yes.” The case was then stood down for two weeks.
