ROYAL TOUR

THE KING AND MR. BRUCE DISCUSS ITINERARY MR. COATES TO BE CONSULTED

(Rec. October 11, 9.30 p.m.) London, October 14. It is learned that when the King granted an audience to Mr. Bruce, His Majesty showed the keenest interest in the forthcoming tour of the Duke and Duchess of York, and expressed pleasure at the invitation to them, recalling his own and the Prince of Wales’s tours of Australia and New Zealand. He gave close attention to details of the Duke and Duchess’s proposed itinerary. Mr. Bruce will probably discuss the programme with the Duke and Duchess of York to-morrow, and it is understood it will be published at the end of the week, after consultation with Mr. Coates, who will arrive on Friday. Sir. Bruce is already crowded with engagements. He has had interviews with several Cabinet Ministers. On Saturday afternoon he will address thousands of children attending Sir Alan Cobham’s lecture in the Albert Hall. This will afford a much wider audience throughout Britain, as the proceedings will be broadcast by wireless.
