BOXING

MONDAY'S TOURNAMENT. From the opening of the plan on Tuesday morning there was a rush to book teats for the McCartby-Trowern contest, and already a full house is assured, according to the management committee. The visitor appears to be in the best of condition, and is only doing light work to complete his training. On the Wednesday night before leaving Melbourne ho took part in the principal contest at the Stadium there, and disposed of Allen in two rounds. Allen, it will bo remembered, drew with Purdy, on the latter’s only appearance ar the Sydney Stadium last year. In Trowern the visitor will be opposed to the best lightweight at present in the Dominion. There will be four amateur preliminaries, and some new exponents will be making their appearance.
