MASTERTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

ANNUAL MEETING. Dominion Special. Masterton, September 29. The annual meeting of tne Masterton Chamber of Commerce was held last evening, Mr. (J. N. C. Praguell presiding. The president complimented the "Buy in Masterton Committee” to whose activities. ho said, the success of the year’s operations was largely due. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. O. N. U. Pragnell; vice-presi-dent, Mr. W. G. Lamb; council, Messrs. J. Allan, J. Caselberg, A. 11. Brennan, H. H. Daniell. 11. G. Davis, D. M. Graham, J. H. Ilandyside, R. H. Hill, L. B. Mnunself, F. Norris, A. S. Rigg, C. M. Strouts, F. W. Temple, F. Whitton, R. J. Young; auditor, Mr. N. H. James.

Dissatisfaction was expressed with the reply received from the State Forest Department concerning the chamber’s request that precautions be taken by the Government to eradicate the borer pest, and it was decided to make further representations. A resolution was passed urging upon the Government the necessity for closer settlement in the Masterton electorate. The "Buy m Masterton Committee” was authorised to launch an extended advertising campaign, extolling the advantages of Mnstorton, from an educational, commercial, residential and industrial standpoint.
