TE ROTI-OPUNAKE RAILWAY
DEPARTMENT ASSUMES CONTROL. BY TELEGBAPH.—PBESS ASSOCIATION. Hawera, July 13. An important stage in the development of the district was consummated yesterday when the Railway Departinent assumed control of the Te RotiOpunake branch railway and inaugurated a tri-weeklv goods and passenger service. For the past year similar services have been conducted by the Public Works Department. The construction occupied nine years and cost approximately £400,000.
