LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnightly meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council was hold last night, the Mayor (Mr. W. T. Strand) presiding. Councillors A. Grierson, G. Mitchell, E. Waldie, W- J. Meldrum, A. Mcßain, A. J. Hobbs, and L. T. Watkins were present. The Mayor said that the Ministers of Lands and Public Works and the Lands Committee of the House of Representatives would pay a visit to Lower Hutt on Friday to inspect the progress of the local works. The Mayor and Councillo/ Mcßain were appointed as the remaining members of the committee to supervise the spending of gala funds. On the motion of the Mayor it was decided to install a modern siren at the fire brigade station, also equipment for host) drying. The members of the brigade are to bo insured.
