MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The Wellington School Committees’ Association met last night, Mr. A. Parlane presiding. ’The Minister of Education acknowledged the receipt of a letter from the association complaining of the unsatisfactory system Of transferring school teachers at times other than at tho and of tho school year. He understood that the necessity of employing so many relieving teachers would not occur if some more expeditious method of filling vacancies could be arranged. Ho pointed out, however, that much of the delay at present involved was due to the necessity for formally consulting school committees under the provisions of „he Act. He would boo whether anything could lie done Some discussion took place on the matter of transfers, and it was decided to refer the Minister’s letter to the Lyall Bay and Kilbirnie committees with it request for information about transfers complained of.
