The Christchurch District Drainage \ct Amendment Bill was yesterday introduced bv Mr. A. J. Howard (Christchurch South), and after its first reading it was referred to the Local Bills Committee. When the Death Duties Amendment Bill appeared in the House vesterdav, the Lender of the Opposition (Mr. H. E Holland) asked the Minister charire (Hon. W. D. Stewart) whether it was proposed to increase the death duties. The Minister replied that there were three minor technical amendments which would not alter the actual rates of the duties.
