ATHLETIC TEAM SELECTED The following team was approved at the meeting of the N.Z.A.A.A. Council last night to represent the Dominion at the Australian championships at Brisbane in August:— S, A. Lay (Hawera), javelin thrower. J. W. Shirley (Auckland), high and broad jumper, 120 yards hurdler, and decathlon representative. G. S. Cabot (Otago), one mile and three mile walker. The team is to leave Wellington by the Ulimaroa on July 30, and will sail from Sydney on the return journey by the Alaunganui on August 27. The decathlon competition comprises the following events: —loo metres flat, running broad jump, putting the 161 b. shot, running high jump, and 400 metres flat on the first day. Hurdle race (110 metres), throwing the discus (best-hand), pole vault, throwing the javelin with javelin held in the middle, and 1500 metres flat on the following day.
