ALLEGED THEFT
CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEE CHARGEE. John Arthur Cormack (aged 28), a meter-reader, appeared before Air. E. Page, S.M-, in the Alagistrato’s Court yesterday afternoon on a charge of stealing .£lOB 12s. 2d., the property of the Wellington City Council, while in the employ of the electric light department. "Although the total shortage-has not yet been ascertained,” remarked Chief Detective Ward, "it is believed to be somewhere in the vicinity of £200.” Accused was remanded until June 8, bail being allowed in the sum of £2OO.
