Marton, April 10. The final match for the Rangitikei Bowling Shield was played yesterday at Marton, the participating teams being Huntorville and Taihape. A keenly contested match resulted in a win tor Taihape by a margin of one point, (he ag. gregale score being: Taihape 41, TTnntervillo 40. , .... The annual meeting of the Rangitikei Scots Society will take place to-night. The report of the chief (Mr. A. G. Simpson) deals in detail with the activities of tho year, and cohcludes:—“Tho committee look forward with great, hope to tho younger members of the society fakin'' a more active interest in its affairs, thereby assisting tho older members in unitedly promoting and perpetuating the remembrance of Scotland, the country' of our fathers; to study her history, her traditions, her literature, her music and her song, thus keeping alive the best traits of her national character, which ata the pride and love of al! children of the Heather," Tho football season will open in Tajhape on Saturday, May 1, while in Rangilikei Ihe ball will ho sol. rolling on Wednesday next for juniors and o.«i Saturday next for the seniors.
