Miss Lorna Monckton (Island Bay) is leaving shortly for a visit to Canada. Mrs. and Miss Brewster have returned to New Plymouth from Wellington. Mrs. H. Gillies (Palmerston North) has been visiting Wanganui. Mrs. Todd (Christchurch) is visiting Mrs. J. B. Jack, Wanganui. Miss Mary Tripe (Eketahuna) is visiting Mrs. A. M. Johnson, Bolton Street. Lady Wilscn and Miss Wilson (Bulls) have been spending several days in New Plymouth. Miss Stuart from Persia is visiting Hawke’s Bay, and is the guest of Miss Williams, of Te Aute. Miss Baughan (Christchurch) has been visiting Wellington on her way through to Auckland. Miss J. Rawson, of New Plymouth, has been spending a few days with Mrs. Paul, Wanganui, on her return from a visit to Wellington. Mrs. H. D. Buchanan, “Dunolly,” Palmerston North, has returned from a visit of some months to Australia. She was accompanied by the Misses Buchanan (31. , Mrs. Martin-Inness and Miss Gleeson have returned to Wellington from a visit to the exhibition in Dunedin, and also the Auckland and Wellington districts. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Cresswell, who have been abroad for the past two years, are returning to New Zealand by the s.s. Makura this morning, and will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Cresswell, Wellington College. Mrs. M. M. Barclay, who acted as relieving matron at the Girls’ friendly Lodge, was presented recently upion leaving with a brown leather handbag inscribed “In appreciation of your great kindness from the G.F.S. 1926 girls.” Mrs. Barclay is at present the guest of Mrs. Williamson, Hayward’s. Gav colour good music, and a good floor characterised the dance which was held in the new college on Friday night by the Wellington Technical College Old Students’ Association, Cricket and Tennis Clubs. A blazing fire at one end of the big room proved a most attractive rendezvous between the dances, and bowls of flowers and streamer, in gay colours added to the attractiveness of the decorations. The ever-useful lycopodium was also used in great profusion in the decorative scheme. The evening was a thoroughly enjoyable one and is but the prelude to others during the winter. The committee who carried out the arrangements comprised Misses G. Campbell, I. Tandy, N. Smith, Messrs. Gribble, Juriss, W E. and H. C. Bennett. The jojnt secretaries were Messrs. Gribble and H. L. A quiet wedding was celebrated on Wednesday afternoon at the residence of Mr and Mrs. R. H. Fraser, Dunottar, when Miss Vera Forbes Menzies was married to Mr. Ernest Peter Cousins, of Island Bav, Wellington, s'ntes a Dunedin exchange. The bride wore a frock of white georgette beaded in silver, silver shoes, and lace veil arranged with a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of cream roses. She was attended by her cousin, Miss L. Scott, as bridesmaid. Iler dress was of apricot charmcuse, shoes to match, and laree crinoline hat. Mr. Philip Cousins was best man. The’ wedding was celebrated at the Methodist Collegiate Church, Auckland of Miss Bervl Haliday, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Haliday, Mount Eden, and the Rev. Arthur Henry Voyce, son of Mr. and the late Mrs. Voyce, of Feilding. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. 11. Ranston, M.A., Litt. Di, assisted by the Rev. W. 1. Blight, 8.A., of Mount Eden. Miss Helen Thomson (Christchurch) has returned to Dunedin, where she has commenced research work under Dr Hercus at the Otago University. Miss Thomson, who took a diploma in Home Science at Studholme House last year, was recently awarded a fellowship for research 'in goitre by the University Council. At a meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Federation of University Women held last week Miss Candy, Miss Seymour, and Miss Kennedy were appointed delegates to -the conference to be held in Dunedin at Easter. Word has been received (reports the “Lvttelton Times”) of the appointment of 'Mrs. Jennie Benson Wyman, 8.A., M.Sc. (University of New Zealand), A.M., Ph.D. (Stanford University), as Professor of Psychology and Education at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Dr. Wyman left New Zealand six vears ago,' and since completing her post-graduate work at Stanford has been directing the research work under Dr. Bird T. Baldwin at the Child Welfare Research Station at the State University of lowa. She is a daughter of the late Mr. W. J. Moore, of Dunedin, and was formerly on the staffs of the Napier Girls’ High School and the Auckland Girls’ Grammar School.
