RIFLE SHOOTING
I’ETONE CLUB The Petone Rifle Club fired a sweepstake match at Trentham on Saturday, the range being 800 and 900 yards. The conditions were good, but a rear fishtail wind at times upset calculations. At 800 yards some good shooting was done, notably by R. 11. Nicholl and T. Warburton, 48 each, and F. Kershaw, jun., 47. At 900 yards W. H. Ballinger (46), O’Donnell (44), and Rulo (43) fired well. ’The winners in the A grade were W. H. Ballinger 92, T. Warburton 88, and A. Ballinger 86; in the B grade F. Kershaw, jun., was winner with 89, H. Rule 81, and It. E. Flaws 80. The spoon winners are W. H. Ballinger A grade, and Kershaw, jun.. and H. Rule, B grade. The teams fired for Jenness and Partridge’s badges, and another win was secured bv W. 11. Ballinger’s team, w’ho scored as'follows:—Ballinger 91, Warburton 88, Kershaw 89. O'Donnell 84, A. Scott 77.
