FRENCH FINANCE

INTENTIONS OF THE PREMIER FRANC REPORTED TO BE STRONGER By Telegraph —Press Association. Copyright. Paris, February 12. JI. Briand has announced that he intends to split the Finance Bill into two parts, the first part providing the funds needed immediately to balance the Budget, which will be voted on by the Chamber of Deputies before February 15, and. passed by both Houses by March 1. The second part, comprising measures for the amortisation of the debt and other general financial reform, will be taken afterwards. M. Briand declared: “They say abroad that we are incapable of fiscal effort. Let us therefore at once show our financial determination and capacity. The franc is stronger to-day owing to the publication ot a weekly bal-ance-sheet by the Bank of France, which shows that the Treasury has reimbursed the bank 450,000,000 francs, thus enabling the reduction of the fiduciary issue by nearly 400,000,0(10 francs.” —Reuter.
