HUTT VALLEY TRAMPING CLUB

PRESIDENT WELCOMED HOME.

At a recent meeting of the committee of the Hutt Valley Tramping Club, several members took the opportunity to welcome home the club piesidcnt, Sir Alexander Roberts, and to congratulate him upon his elevation to the status of knighthood, an honour which all were agreed was highly merited. In reply, Sir Alexander Roberts expressed his pleasure at rcnewing his association with members of. the club, and stated his intention, as opportunity offers, to take part, again in club walks. Speaking of Ins experiences in England, he made humorous reference to the density of a Loudon fog, and the utility of a knowledge of the compass was an . aid to direction finding. It was explained to the president that during his absence at the Wembley Exhibition, tile activities of the club members had extended bevond the confines of the hills surrounding the Hutt Valley, and the majority of members were now well acquainted with all the tracks on and over the Tararuas, while some Had made trips to the Tongariro National Park for the winter sports, to Mount Hgmont. to Franz Josef Glacier, and elsewhere.
