UNIQUE RECOGNITION
HONOUR FOR SALVATIONIST Bx Telbguai’K—PhEss Association. New Plymouth, February 10. A unique honour was conferred on the Taranaki branch of the Salvation Army generally and Envoy S. Buick, of New Plymouth, in particular, when Commissioner Hoggard, head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, made a special visit to. New Plymouth for the purpose of conferring upon the envoy the “Order of the Founder,” the highest honour that the Salvation Army can bestow. The recognition was the outcome of the exceptional work done by Envoy Buick through a period of ’.45 years, 41 of which have been spent in Taranaki. It was bestowed by a special request of the Head of the Salvation Army, General Bramwell Booth. Envoy Buick is the first Salvationist in New Zealand to receive the honour, and the second in Australia and New Zealand. There was a large gathering of prominent citizens, and high tributes were paid to Envov Buick. The commissioner pinned the order on Envoy Buick’s breast and Airs. Hoggard presented him with a certificate signed by General Booth.
