Sir Harold Beauchamp was a passenger for Auckland by tire .2 p.m. express yesterday. Yesterday the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. O. Hawken, left for Dannevirke to attend the A. and P. Show. He will return to Wellington to-morrow.

Among the arrivals from South Island yesterday were the Minister of Labour and Mines, the Hon. G. J. Anderson, and the Minister of Justice and Defence, the Hon. F. J. Rollestonl

Mr. G. E. Bunting, general .manager for Australasia for the Canadian Merchant Marine, Captain Hatfield, marine superintendent, and Mr. F. G. Wood, assistant Australasian manager, arrived from south by the Wahine yesterday morning. Mr. T. R. Boyes, local manager for the Canadian Merchant Marine, . left Wellington last evening for Dunedin. Mr. F. W. Furkert, C.M.G., Undersecretary and Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, left by the Tamahine yesterday for Picton en route to Dunedin, where he will attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers. The funeral of the late Mr. W. Hughes, secretary of New Zealand lielure Supplies, Ltd., Hayward’s Pictures, Ltd., Fullers’ Umtiires, Ltd., and Australasian Films (N.Z.), Ltd., took place at the Taita cemetery. Lower Hutt, yesterday. The .late M. Hughes was a'highly respected member of the picture business in New Zealand, having been with the N.Z.P.S. for over twelve years. The Rev. E. Rowe officiated at the graveside, and Mr. W._ B. Hardv read the Masonic service. Messrs. A. McGowan (Australasian Films), L. Quinn (United Artists), R. Hsiddow (Empress Theatre), and A. Wainwright (N.Z.P.S., Ltd.), acted as pall-bearers. iXmoiig the many present at the funeral were Mr. E. J. Sir Bon jamin Fuller and Sir. John Fuller (directors of the New Zealand Picture -Supplies, Ltd.), the Mayor of Lower Hutt'* (Mr. W. T. Strand) and Councillor Mcßain (representing the Lower Hutt Borough Council), Sir. C. G. Wilson (president Wellington Cricket Association), Mr. H. McGirr and Mr. A. Aldersley (Hutt Cricket Club), Colonel Chesney (Hutt Golf Club), Mr. Oka Hcketa (Hutt Maori Cricket Club), and representatives of all the film exchanges and theatres in Wellington Many beautiful wreaths were forwarded by the friends of the late Mr. Hughes, including one from the -staff of'the N.Z.P.5.,, Ltd.,' and Australasian Films; Ltd., and the Auckland picture showmen. ■:.■.*
