Anglers in the Wanganui district have been somewhat disappointed with the season, and the bags made in the majority of cases have not come up to expectations (states the “Chronicle”). While the various streams in the district arc well stocked, the low ebb of the waters has not been conducive to the best of sport. Commenting upon the comparatively unsatisfactory condition of the Wanganui stock market, a farmer remarked that the trouble was that everybody was “hanging fire” at the present time (states tlie Wanganui “Chronicle”!. The dry weather had upset calculations to a certain extent, and if it had not been for that some good prices would no doubt have been realised for stock.
