BULK MOTOR SPIRIT
FIRST TANKER DUE TO-MORROW
The British Imperial Oil Company’s first cargo of bulk motor spirit is due at Wellington to-morrow by the oil tanker Alttrex from Singapore and Balik Papati, via Sydney. zA big oil reservoir, which has been erected at Afiramar, will receive the first shipment of bulk motor spirit yet brought to New Zealand. The Aliramar scheme also embodies the storing of fuel oil from Eastern ports for bunkering oil fuel burners which visit Wellington.
In all parts of the world where petrol is sold to the public in bulk the saving in the cost of tins and cases lias carried a reduction in price to consumers. In New Zealand it is anticipated that this will mean a reduction of over £250,000 annually. The Murex was built in 1922 at His Majesty’s Dockyard, Portsmouth. She is a vessel of 5830 tons gross, and is a thoroughly up-to-date ship of lier class.
