SURF RESCUES
CASES AT CASTLECLIFF. ‘ Very few recognise the splendid service rendered to the community by tho members of the surfing and life-saving clubs in the Dominion. Following on the recent cases at Lyall Bay, where lives were undoubtedly saved by tho skill and forethought of members of such clubs,' Castlecliff was tho scene, on Sunday, of two incidents which showed how useful those institutions are. The Wanganui Surf Club had given a demonstration of life-saving work, and the tide was running out when two young men and a girl were found to bo "in difficulties, but ths life-saving team on dutyeffected a rescue quickly. Earlier in the day a young woman, who found herself in difficulties, was brought ashore by members of the club. The day before, club members were called upon to deal with two other similar cases.
