TEXAS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. (Rec. January 18. 9.30 p.m.) New York, January IS. At San Antonio. Macdonald Smith, scoring 288, won tho 1500 dollars first prize in the Texas open golf championship. Cruiekshank missed a ten-inch putt at the last hole, scoring 289. Three competitors tied for third place with 292, namely, Cooper, Espinosa, and Jack Burke.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
When Davis Cup plavers, Patterson and Hawkes, gave exhibition matches in Auckland, they demanded Spaldings’ plugless tennis balls.—Advt.
