VIOLENT MOTOR COLLISION
PASSENGERS HURLED ACROSS STREET
By Telegraph.—Press Association Christchurch, January 11. Two people were thrown fifteen feet across the road and narrowly escaped death, and several others were severely shaken, as the result of a violent motor collision last night. Mrs. Eliza Treneary, 46 years of age, sustained concussion, shock, and cuts, Miss Maggie Carter, 19 years of age, concussion, shock, cuts, and bruises; and Miss Elsie 16 vears of age, cuts and bruises. Mrs. Treneary and Miss Carter were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, but Miss Treneary, after being treated as an outpatient,' was discharged. . Mr. Treneary, who was driving the car, accelerated it to avoid some pedestrians who were crossing a street intersection, and crashed into another car going the opposite way. Mr. Treneary’s car was caught broadside on and hurled against a telegraph post. Both cars were wrecked. *lhe names of the occupants of the other car are unknown.
