PAHIATUA TOURNEY CONCLUDED Br Telegraph.—Press Association. Pahiatua, January 5. The tennis tournament concluded this , morning after extending over four days. In the semi-final of the men’s championship singles, J. G. Swainson beat Johnson, G—fl, 6—2; and Welch beat Hooper, 4 —6, 6—2, 6—3. In the final Swainson beat Welch after a stern struggle, 3—6, r—A, 6—2. The men’s championship doubles was won by Swainson and Hooper against Welch and Johnson, 6—l, 6-y2; the handicap doubles by W. V. Fisher (Wellington) and Falloon (Masterton) against W. B. I,owes and It. H. . Wardell. The ladies’ championship singles was won by Miss Rua Gardner (Wellington). In the qualifying rounds, Mrs. N. W. Groves displaced her sister, Mrs. Potter; Miss Gardner boat Mrs. Booth; and Mrs. Groves beat Mrs. B. F. Smith. The combined championship double semi-finals resulted: —Johnson and Mrs. Potter beat Hooper and Mrs. Smith; Welch and Mrs. Groves beat Mackie and Miss Armistead; and in the final Welch and Mrs. Groves beat Johnson and Mrs. Potter, 9—6. )n the ladies’ handicap doubles Mrs. Smith and Miss Gardner beat Mesdames Potter and Booth.
