At a meeting of the Hastings Borough Council, 'the Mavor said that he had received a letter from a lady doctor in Dunedin asking for two sets of photographs of the Hastings Women s Rest, showing tbc exterior and the interior of the building, which she required for exhibition during a tour in Australia. His Worship said that photographs of the Hastings Women’s Rest were displayed in the Dunedin Exhibition, which had inspired this request, and it spoke volumes for the service rendered bv the Rest that it gave such publicitv to the town and district (states the Napier “Daily Telegraph”). ... i A piece of cloth about two yards square, the loss of which may cost owners thousands of jqnnds, although its value as cloth is only a few shillings has been stolen from a largo mill at Brnmloy. Leeds. The piece of cloth had woven in it about a dozen of next year’s patterns. Nine months’ work have gone in tho designing and weaving of the cloth.
