PETONE RIFLE CLUB The Petono Rifle Club fired the third competition in the first series, and. championships, on Saturday, tho ranges being 300 and 500 yards. Thera was again a very fine attendance, cvnd f.he scores, under the good conditions, were very good, tho wind being steady and tho light generally clear. At 300 yards, W. IL Ballinger made a brilliant 49 out of a possible 50: A. Ballinger 47, W. Mclver 46, and numerous 45’s. At 500 yards A. Ballinger and V. Broughton made 48 each. Mclver and W. 11. Ballinger 47; top score off the rifle falling to W. 11. Ballinger 96, A. 8. Ballinger being close up with 95. Spoon winners, A. S. Ballinger, A grade; J. Humphrey and F. Kershaw, B grade. Broughton, 181; A. Ballinger, B. H. Nicholl. and H. Rule. 180 points. The teams match resulted in a win. for R. H. Nicholls’ team with the fine score of 449 points. The ranges next Saturday are 500 and 600 yards. • KARORI CLUB The Karori Rifle Club fired the first match of its championship aggregate on Saturday afternoon at tho 300 and 500 yards ranges. An outstanding feature of the day's shoot was a “possible" registered by Rflmn. Taylor at ,he 300 yards range. Bflmn. F. W. Ching’s shoot at this range was a distinctly unfortunate one. consisting of nine bull’s-eyes and a miss, a faulty round being the apparent cause of the lost shot. The wind conditions were fairly easy at 500 yards, but became a bit choppy at the longer range. Scores :—

Next Saturday the club will shoot at 800 and 900 yards. - OLD NAVALS CLUB The old Navals Club fired their third match of the first aeries—club championship, Rabe Memorial Cup, and Hodder Cup, aggregates at Trentliam on Saturday, with a ten-shot match at each 300 and 500 yards. Bflmn. Goldfinch, who started the season in good form, made 47 at each range, beating the club’s standard by one point. The next in order being the veteran, Captain J. Ross, with 91 pointed Details are as follow.—

SUBURBS CLUB The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club fired, a match over the 3CO, 500. and 600 yards ranges, seven shots at 300 and 500, fl-jd five at 600, for trophies presented by Mr. T. Goodall and other members of the club. The president (Mr. W. G. Fellingham) proved the winner cf the first prize, with Messrs. Goodall and Bitters winners of the other two. The weather conditions were most troublesome to the marksmen, there being a hard northerly blowing from the real. The best one range scores were put up by Rflmn. L. Hare at 500 with 32, and T. Goodall, White, and Bellingham with 33 each to their credit. Next Saturday the club will commence its first series witn a shoot over the 500 and ftD yards ranges (ten shots), Dep.-Pres. R. E.
