FIRES IN THE CITY
TWO CALLS LAST EVENING The Central Fire Brigade were called to two fires in the city last evening. The first call was at 6.3 C to Newtown Avenue, where an outbreak was suppressed in a four-roomed one-story residence, owned by Air. Alexander Afiller, and occupied by Air. Arthur lit nest Aliller. The kitchen, scullery, bathroom, and contents were severely damaged. The contents were insured in the Yorkshire office for £75, and the piano for £55 in the Alliance office. The brigade was again called at 6.38, this time to 9'2 Boulcolt Street, where a washhouse attached to a two-storied apartment dwelling, occupied by Aliss Al Donnelly, was found to be on fire. The washhouse and its contents were considerably damaged. The contents were insured in the State office.
