As a preliminary to tho selection of the Now Zealand League team for Australia', Canterbury played a combined Otago-West Coast team at Monica Park yesterday. Tho fixture attracted a large attendance. The combined team won by 12 points to 3 after a fast, exciting game. . Mears and Desmond scored tries for '’Combined, both being converted by Mount, who also kicked a penalty goal. Sanders scored an unconverted try for Canterbury. From this game tho South Island team to play llm North Island at Auckland will bo chosen, and from the northern game the team will bo picked for Australia. OTHER MATCHES.
