RIFFS’ PROGRESS STAYED BY RAPID ORGANISATION OF FRENCH SUPPORTS Paris, May 4. A message from Rabat states, that the rapid organisation of the i-reuch supports lias stayed tlie progress of tlie Riffs. There was an earlier defensive period in whicli the French had put up an heroic resistance. In this period a detachment of engineers was surprised when constructing a pontoon, and had to fight its way back at the point of the bayonet.—-Reuter.
