CONFERENCE OF BOARDS By Telegraph-—Purrs Association Feildiug, March 24 The Rabbit Board’s conference opened to-day, representatives being present from Kiwitea, Oroua, Manawatu, Eastern Pohangina, Umutoi, Apiti, Pohangina, Wangaehu, Cheltenham, Hunterville, Rangioto, and Patea. Mr. A. P Francis (Kiwitea) presided, and was elected permanent chairman of the conference.

After a discussion on the inferior quality poison alleged to be supplied by the Government, it was decided that the conference secretary collect complaints, with the object of making specific charges to the Department of Agriculture.

A remit from Manawatu that boards be exempted in the matter of making returns of the poisons sold, as specified under the Poisons Act, 1908, was lost, but a second remit from the same quarter, urging that the Government be asked to indent wire netting was carried.

The Umutoi Board’s remit that no prosecution be made against any person unless bv resolution of the board was lost, the delegates pointing out that the matter was left to the inspectors. The election of the board was discussed, delegates being of opinion that the board should be elected ‘ for two years. The executive are to interview the Minister, on the matter It was resolved that all proprietary prepared poison be subject to a Government test, to be sold with a guaranteed poison content. Conference carried a remit that boards have power to provide accommodation for employees on similar lines to local bodies. It was decided. to ask for machinery for the amalgamation of two or more boards. 'The next conference will include delegates from all the boards in the Wellington Province.
