CHURCHES’ PROTEST IN SYDNEY. (Rec. March 23, 9.50 p.m.) Sydney, March 23. A deputation representing the Anglican, Presbyterian, Congregational, and Baptist clmr''hes waited on the Lord Mayor and strongly denounced the City Council’s decision to permit Sunday sport, and asked him to have the decision revoked. Mr. Stokes, in reply, defended the action of the council. He gaid that undue publicity had been given to the subject, but he promised to bring the question up again.—Press Assn.
