A farmer who was in Timaru recently, referring to the price of wheat, said (reports the Timaru “Herald”) that it was four years since he had grown nnv of this cereal, and he added that he' had ceased to grow it because he could not afford to raise a crop on which he lost monej. He was now devoting his land to grazing, and by this means he was able to pay 20s. in the £l. Had he continued to grow wheat, he said, at the present cost of production, he would have ended up in the Bankruptcy Court.
