BITUMEN PAVING

PROGRESS IN CABLE STREET I That section of Cable Street between Tervois Quay and Lower Taranaki Street has been paved for , the full width with a substantial two-course surface. The section was completed on Tuesday evening. Yesterday the bitumen gang crossed Taranaki Street and commenced on the- 24ft. wide strip which is to be. continued through to Clyde Quay. As the preparation along that thoroughfare is well advanced, it is expected that this road will be completed bv the end of next week, when ’ a start will be made on Clyde Quay and Oriental Bav. Under the city and suburban reading scheme only a 24ft. strip of bituminous asphalt is to be laid down in the first instance round the Bav, but later on it is expected that Clyde Ottav and Oriental Parade will be paved to their full width.
