REPORTS OF DISCOVERY IN FRANCE CONDEMNED BY M. HERRIOT (Rec. Decem'blar 21. 11.5 p.m.) Paris, December 20. M. Herriot. in a statement concenting reports of the discovery of Communist plots in France, condemns what he describes as the daily publication of false news. He says the Government does not need urging to keep a, watch <ui agitators or foreign matters, in fact the maintenance of order has been in no way troubled, but the Press campaigns are of such a nature as to injure the material and moral credit of France. The country was unmoved by the real perils of war, and it will not he troubled by imaginary perils.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
PLOT TO SEIZE AMIENS
(Rec. December 21, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 20. The “Morning Post’s” Paris correspondent states that particulars of the Communist plot to seize Amiens were similar to the plot reported a few days ago. Sections of the Red army were to march from meeting-places late at night, seize the town hall, post and telephone offices, and railway stations and arrest the Mayor and other notables. The citizens were to find a French Soviet Republic established in the morning.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
