FALL DOWN A LIFT WELL

+ JURY’S VISRDICT REVERSED. Ths Court of Appeal yesterday rerersed the verdict of a jury in which John Arthur Connor was awarded £1026 damages against Nelson, Moate, and Company Limited for injuries sustained by him through falling down Die well of a lift in a building in parish Street, of which .Howden Brothers were the owners. The Court was of opinion that unless plaintiff established that the defendant company was the ■occupier of the lift (and not merely the user of it along with others) he eould not succeed in his claim. It held that the company was not the occupier of the lift, and therefore gave judgment in its favour, with costs according to scale.
