DAMAGE BY FIRE
OUTBREAK AT LOAVER HUTT. Considerable damage was done by an outbreak of fire in a ten-roomed dwelling situated in AVestern Road, Lower Hutt, yesterdav morning. The owner, Mr. P. H. Hodukins, was boilintr bitumen on a gas stove when it caught fire, and the flames enveloped the kitchen and spread upstairs. The brigade was smartly on thq scene, and prevented the fire from spreading further. The furniture was insured for £lOO and the house for £l2OO. m Telegraph—a c<:<yb atkt*, Auckland, July 23. An eight-roomed residence at Epsom, owned and occupied by Mrs. A. B. Wilson, was extensively damaged by fire last night. Three rooms were gutted, and a good deal of furniture was destroyed. The cause was an electric iron left on a toßle with the current switched on. The insurance on the house and furniture is £550.
