OFFER TO NEGOTIATE WITH . BLACKS (Rec. July 23, 9.45 p.m.) Darwin, July 23. Mr. Robert Macdonald, protector of aborigines at Darwin, and formerly , protector of aborigines at Bowen Straits, has suggested to the Government that he be sent to precede the Douglas Mawson search part to try to negotiate with the' blacks respecting the alleged holding of two women survivors, and thus avert a tragedy, which tactless methods might bring about. —Press Assn. EXPEDITION TO LEAVE ,ON MONDAY (Rec. July 24, 1.15 a.m.) Melbourne, July 23. The expedition for the relief of the Douglas Mawson survivors will leave Darwin on Monday next by the trading steamer Huddersfield. It will consist of twenty men armed with rifles and revolvers. Horses also will be taken for scouting work. —Press Assn.
