At the trial at Adelaide of Bert Stapleton Neal, on a charge of murdering Hilda Jones,- the jury held that accused was insane at the time of the shooting. The Judge directed that Neal bo confined in the criminal ward of a mental hospital until the pleasure of the Governor is known. John Sloan, an American pensioner, of Gateshead, believed to be tho last survivor of the Mexican war of 1845, has died, aged 95.
