TWENTY-TWO LIVES LOST. Los Angeles, June 2. Twenty-two are dead and eighteen suffering from minor burns as a resuit of a fire which destroyed' the Hope Development School at Playa Del Rey for sub-normal girls. Twenty of the girls killed were in their ’teens or early twenties. Mrs. D. Thomas, the matron, sacrificed her life in a vain effort to lead the girls from the burning structure.
