MEETING OF WELLINGTON CENTRE NOTICE TO AMEND RULES The monthly meeting of tho Wellinglon Bowling Centre was held last evening, Mi-. F. Aieadowcroft presiding. The much-discussed question as to how a man should fake off from the mat cropped up once more in a motion moved by Mr. AV. E. Spencer to the effect that the Dominion Council be asked to amend tlie foot on the jmat rule, which now requires the player at the moment of delivering the bowl to have at least the one foot wholly on the mat to read that “the player at the moment of delivery must be at least one foot on the mat and wholly wifhin the boundaries of tho mat." Ho pointed out that all players ■C'ji delivering a bowl raised themselves on to the toes of the foot that was oh the mat, and that being the case tho foot could not bo said to be wholly on the mat. Tho motion was seconded by Mr. J. Muir. After a desultory discussion it was decided, on tho motion of Mr. C. Martin, that in order to give the wholo matter more mature consideration that Mr. Spencer should bring the motion up at the next meeting, and he should give notice of same Mr. Spencer also gave notice of mo ti-o-n as follows:—“A bowl that does not traverse tv. enty feet of tho space between tho mat and the jack shall bo dead,” or, alternatively, “a bowl which in its original course comes to rest less than 20 feet from tho mat shall be dead." Ho also gave notice of motion as follows:—“If a toucher in the ditch be displaced by i.i to’mher it shall remain where it comes to rest; if displaced by a dead bowl it shall bo replaced." Mr. S. I’otter congratulated the organisers of the eastern suburbs tournament on the success of tho recent Easter tournament. He remarked how every member of his (the Wallington) duh had enjoyed the tournament from beginning to end.
The chairman mentioned that the next Dominion tournament would be held in Wellington. It would devolve upon them to elect a now chairman, and he would like delegates to cast their minds around in order to secure a good man for tha position. Air. Meadowcroft said that he would bo presiding at tho next two meetings of the centre.
